Oscars 2008 Winners

It was a foreign invasion! With actors from across the pond sweeping all the acting awards, it was up to the Coen brothers from Minnesota to stamp last night's 80th Academy Award ceremony with their own indelible brand of American filmmaking. The Coens' No Country for Old Men took home three trophies, including Best Picture, while Paul Thomas Anderson's There Will Be Blood picked up two awards. Britain's Daniel Day-Lewis' win for Best Actor was no shock. Nor were there any gasps of surprise when Javier Bardem walked off with the statuette for Best Supporting Actor. But English thesp Tilda Swinton's win as Best Supporting Actress caused just as much as a stir as Marion Cotillard's trip to the podium for her Best Actress award, making her the first French performer to win in the category since Simone Signoret in 1960.
