Nichols has assembled a high-powered cast for this look at a Texas Congressman (Hanks) who gets involved with aiding Afghan rebels during the occupation of Afghanistan by the Soviet Union. His efforts, of course, have long-term effects that he never would have foreseen. The screenplay was written by West Wing's Aaron Sorkin.
