The Premiere 2007 Preview
The Simpsons Movie
Featuring the voices of: Dan Castellaneta, Julie Kavner, Nancy Cartwright, Yeardley Smith, Harry Shearer, and Hank Azaria
Directed by: David Silverman
(20th Century Fox, July 27)
All that director Silverman, a veteran of Monsters Inc. and many episodes of the Simpsons TV show, will offer about the big-screen adventures of Homer, Marge, and their brood is that "Homer gets into a certain amount of physical discomfort, but much like [Wile E. Coyote], he seems to shake off these misadventures." Many of the beloved denizens of Springfield will make appearances, as will some of the show's visitors. "We are introducing [new characters], and there will be some cameos of famous people," Silverman says. The feature is being produced at the same time as the show's 18th season, which the director says is possible only because so many writers and animators have worked on these characters over the years. It is not, he adds, the grand finale to the series. "If this movie is the iceberg to the S.S. Simpsons... that's not our intention."
