Director Shiraki and former Saturday Night Live star Dratch conceived their girls­on­a­road-trip comedy as a counterpoint to the surge in frat pack humor on movie screens. "Rachel and I wanted to collect the funniest women we could find and do something that is big and broad and has a lot of heart," he says. "We really wanted to create our own 9 to 5." Dratch, her SNL compatriot Poehler, and Posey play friends who get a chance to revisit their youth when Posey's boss (Jane Lynch) asks her to chaperone her wild-child daughter (Tamblyn) on a trip to South Padre Island, Texas. "This is all about a chance to have a do-over in life," says Poehler, who never made the debauched pilgrimage known as spring break. "I got to do a lot of things I hadn't done before... stage dive, attend a foam party, dance on a beach, do a shot off a boy."
