Stranger Than Fiction
Is he a man? Or the subject of a novelist? Will Ferrell tries to prevent death-by-writer's-block.

By Sara Brady

Starring: Will Ferrell, Emma Thompson, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Queen Latifah, Dustin Hoffman
Director: Marc Forster

When Harold Crick (Will Ferrell) begins hearing a voice narrating his life, he thinks he's crazy. He's not: It's the voice of a novelist (Emma Thompson) who plans to kill off her main character, Harold Crick, as soon as her writer's block goes away. Director Marc Forster, best known for dramas Monster's Ball and Finding Neverland, tries funny.

The Bottom Line: Almost as good a premise as the Bale vs. Jackman smackdown.
