Corn-fed Americans and restless married couples round out the week's releases.

Why Did I Get Married?
(Lions Gate)
Tyler Perry (Diary of a Mad Black Woman) steps out of drag to adapt and star in his own stageplay about a close-knit group of married friends who are forced to air their dirty laundry during a weekend getaway. Janet Jackson, Michael Jai White, Jill Scott, Sharon Leal, Malik Yoba, Tasha Smith, Denise Boutte, and Lamann Rucker form the rest of the ensemble in this Big Chill–esque drama, which promises to be a less boisterously comedic outing for Perry. Since Why has its origins on the stage, though, expect a lot of scenes of people sitting in rooms, talking.

The Final Season
(Yari Film Group)
Based on the true story of Norway, Iowa — a small, baseball-obsessed town of just over 500 people that has produced 14 Major League ballplayers — The Final Season dramatizes events around the local high school baseball team's final outing before the school was scheduled to be closed due to district re-zoning. Sean Astin stars as the lame-duck coach hired to replace beloved veteran Powers Booth in this inspirational sports drama.

King Corn (limited release)
(Balcony Releasing)
This documentary takes a look inside America's corn industry. But wait… there's more. A lot more. It turns out that the seemingly innocuous plant constitutes nearly everything we, as Americans, consume. And have you seen most Americans lately? Not the picture of health. This Supersize Me–style doc takes a funny but chilling look at the true fabric of our country.
