PREMIERE.COM'S REVIEW (posted 6/21/07)
3stars

Once Kiwi movie god Peter Jackson put aside his Bad Taste and Meet the Feebles past and became an "important filmmaker," someone lurking in the green hills of New Zealand was bound to dust off their theatrical blood canisters and take up his gonzo horror-comedy mantle. And that someone appears to be Jonathan King.

Black Sheep is the tale of the Oldfield brothers. Younger son Henry, following a traumatic childhood experience, has long since left the family farm and now suffers from a crippling fear of sheep. His creepy older brother Angus, however, stayed behind to run things and, on the side, conduct shady experiments in an effort to genetically engineer a new breed of "perfect" sheep. When a pair of overzealous environmental activists (a goof on the opening event of 28 Days Later, only this time played for laughs) get their hands on an about-to-be discarded "fetus," it sets in motion events that result in New Zealand's prized beast turning from docile wool provider to rampaging terror.
