Big Day for Gossip Hounds
Madonna reacts to the firestorm surrounding her adoption of a 13 month-old boy from Malawi on Oprah, and Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes announce they'll be married in Italy on Nov. 18. More at BBC News and People.

Bob and Harvey Say Don't Smoke
Harvey's put down the cigarettes, and he wants you to, too. The Attorney General of California yesterday announced yesterday that the Weinstein Company will be the first movie company to feature anti-smoking ads in DVDs where the films depict smoking. More at The Los Angeles Times.

Sarsgaard, Gyllenhaal, and Witherspoon Take On Rendition
Jake Gyllenhaal, Peter Sarsgaard, and Reese Witherspoon have all signed on to Rendition, about a CIA operative who has doubts about his assignment in the Middle East, for director Gavin Hood (Tsotsi). More at Variety.

Parker Joins Smart People
Sarah Jessica Parker will replace Rachel Weisz in the cast of the Smart People, a comedy that co-stars Dennis Quaid, Thomas Haden Church, Hard Candy's Ellen Page, and Ashton Holmes (A History of Violence). More at Variety.
