Eastwood and Spielberg do Flags carpet, Columbus Day audiences discover Departed, and more.

Eastwood, Spielberg Premiere Flags of Our Fathers
Clint Eastwood and Steven Spielberg outshone the other stars at the premiere of Flags of Our Fathers, the World War II drama Eastwood directed and Spielberg produced. "I made [the movie] because he asked me to," said Eastwood of Spielberg. "Because he's hard to turn down." More at USA Today.
Roberts to Eat, Pray, Love
Paramount has picked up the rights to Eat, Pray, Love, a memoir about a woman who becomes dissatisfied with her life and subsequently sets out to make drastic changes. The project is reportedly being developed as a starring project for Julia Roberts. More at Variety.
Weisz Gets Smart to Con Job Film
Rachel Weisz has been cast as a millionaire out to foil two con men in The Brothers Bloom, to be directed by Rian Johnson (Brick). More at the Hollywood Reporter.
Columbus Day Good to The Departed, Open Season
Columbus Day gave a decent box office bump to two of the weekend's top films. Martin Scorsese's The Departed grabbed an additional $4 million to bring its weekend total up to $30.7 million, while the animated Open Season brought in the kiddies and an additional $2.2 million, upping its total to $17.9 million for the weekend.
