As the Writer's Guild strike drags on with no end in sight, fears abound that 2009 will be a barren wasteland for film. But for now, 2008 promises a healthy crop of cinematic wonders: the requisite blockbuster sequels (The Dark Knight, Hellboy II: The Golden Army, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian), a selection of diverse comedies both romantic and otherwise (You Don't Mess With the Zohan, Semi-Pro, Made of Honor, The Love Guru), and the long-anticipated return of some familiar names and faces (Star Trek XI, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull).

So don't bother packing up the party decorations just yet — we're celebrating 12 months of upcoming movies.
