Die Hard 3-Film DVD Set
The first entry in the popular Bruce Willis series remains one of the great action thrillers of the past 20 years, and its two-disc set (mostly) does it justice.

(Die Hard, Five Star Collection - Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment, $29.98)

(Die Hard 2, Special Edition - Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment, $29.98)

(Die Hard With a Vengance, Special Edition - Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment, $29.98)

The first entry in the popular Bruce Willis series remains one of the great action thrillers of the past 20 years, and its two-disc set (mostly) does it justice. The highlight is an editing workshop that allows you to construct alternate versions of three sequences. Elsewhere, there are deleted scenes (including one that explains how Willis’s shirt mysteriously changes color), bloopers, and an extended version of the film. The only misstep: The subtitled commentary track is a good idea, but it’s awkwardly executed and hard to follow. As for the sequels, they are both diverting but minor works—and their two-disc editions seem padded with promotional material.
