The Pitch: Fifty years ago, students at a Massachusetts elementary school buried a time capsule. It contained drawings of the future by every student, except for a little girl named Lucinda, who drew only numbers. Nicolas Cage’s character realizes that the numbers contain the location and casualty stats for every major catastrophe since its burial. Obviously, he takes it upon himself to stop the next tragedy.

High Points: The special effects were so impressive you might find them a little disturbing, especially if you live in one of the areas they show getting torn up.

Low Points: The film is hilariously unrealistic, but still manages to be in bad taste. It might hit a little close to home for people who have been involved in real, non-Nick Cage-related catastrophes.

Final Thoughts: While the concept is interesting, the whole thing comes off as a rather hilarious, um, disaster.
